Baldwin-Wallace 78, Hardin-Simmons 71
BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin-Wallace advanced to the Elite Eight for the second consecutive year when it beat Hardin-Simmons 78-71 at the Rudolph Urpsrung Gymnasium in Berea.

The Yellow Jackets will face Ohio Wesleyan in the sectional championship tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in the Urpsrung Gymnasium. The winner of tomorrow night's game will advance to the Final Four in Danbury, Conn., the weekend of March 16-17.

The Yellow Jackets led early at 2-0 but Hardin-Simmons took over and built its lead to as many as 10 points at 37-27 with 2:32 left before the intermission. The Cowgirls also led by six points at halftime, 40-34.

In the second half, the Cowgirls extended their advantage to as many as 13 points, at 51-38, with 15:47 remaining before B-W started its comeback. The Yellow Jackets then outscored Hardin-Simmons 24-11 to tie the score at 62-all with 7:28 left when senior Jenny Nance scored on a driving layup. B-W then outscored the Cowgirls down the stretch 16-9 to win its 15th straight game and improve to 27-2 overall. It also was B-W's second win versus Hardin-Simmons this year, having won 76-67 on Dec. 30 in Abilene, Texas.

Leading the way for B-W was sophomore Holy Koepp with a career-high 22 points, including 17 in the second half. Nance scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the year. Senior guard Kim Luthman also had 10 markers.

Hardin-Simmons, which ends its season at 22-6 overall, was paced by back up guard Lauren Harris with 17 points and sophomore center Laura Ricci scored 14 points and sophomore Kendra Anderson, the American Southwest Conference Player of the Year, had 12 points.
