Last December, Hardin-Simmons SID Chad Grubbs responded to a message on one of the “Posting Up” message boards, coming up with a list of what it takes for women’s basketball teams to win at the highest national level. His analysis was thorough and very informative, and was directly responsible for this story idea.
Being on the outside looking in, we figured that our expertise on the subject would pale in comparison to those who have actually been through the experience. So we surveyed a select group of people who have been a part of a championship run, as either a player, coach, or administrator. We asked each of them to fill in the blank: “To win a national championship, you need _____________.” The answers? Teamwork ... trust ... heart, audacity and more: These are their thoughts.
