Pittsford, NY —
SUNY Brockport advanced to the national quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship with a 105-91 win over host St. John Fisher College tonight in front of 1,000 fans at Fisher’s Manning & Napier Varsity Gymnasium.

With the win, SUNY Brockport (26-5) will now take on College of Wooster (28-3), who defeated John Carroll University 83-73 earlier in the night. The two schools will play with a berth into the Final Four on the line at 7 p.m. on Saturday at Fisher.

Brockport’s Sherod Harris scored 26 of his 32 points in the second half to pace the Golden Eagles, who scored 66 points in the second half.

Fisher (24-6) led 43-39 at halftime, but Brockport (26-5) came out on fire in the second half. Fisher led 51-50 four minutes into the second half, but Brockport never trailed after Mychal Wilkes banked in a 3-pointer to give the Golden Eagles a 53-51 lead.

Fisher cut Brockport’s lead to six points with 2:56 left on a 3-pointer from Dan Mueller, but never got any closer.

Brockport shot 18-for-27 (66.7%) from the floor in the second half, including 8-of-13 (61.5%) from 3-point range, and also was 22-for-29 from the foul line (75.9%).

While Brockport shot extremely well from the foul line, the Cardinals struggled, converting on just 8-of-17 (47.1%) from the line. Fisher also ran into foul trouble with four starters each picking up four fouls with 8:33 left.

“Brockport is obviously a very good team and when they shoot the ball from the perimeter like they did tonight, they’re really tough to beat,” said Fisher head coach Rob Kornaker, who ranks as the winningest active coach in NCAA Division III. “They’re a talented, physical team and we’ll be rooting for them tomorrow.”

Harris shot 11-for-19 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. He also tallied a team-high four steals. Teammate Aaron Poles finished with 23 points, while shooting 3-for-4 from 3-point range and 10-of-13 from the foul line. Wilkes totaled 12 points and four assists, while Brandon Williams and Cantrel Parish each finished with nine points and five boards.

Fisher, who lost for just the fifth time in its last 74 games at home, was led by senior Adrian Fenyn, who finished with 18 points. Freshman Chris Baltz finished with 15 points, while classmate Matt Newman added 11.

Mueller totaled 11 points, including four 3-pointers to set the Fisher single-season record for 3-pointers in a season with 93.
