EC remained in a first-place deadlock with Aurora Unversity, which also won.
BU's loss came down to some basic math in two fundamental areas of the game: shooting and rebounding. Edgewood hit 45-percent from the field (24-53), while the BU team hit just under 32-percent (19-60) from the floor. EC also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Benedictine by a 45-30 margin.
Four Edgewood players hit for double figures. Chris DeMarco had the big day with a game-leading 26 points to go along with his eight rebounds and four assists. Kyle Scott chipped in 16 points, while Charlie Averkamp and Jon Ciche added 10 points, apiece.
Averkamp led all rebounders with 14 caroms. ciche and Evan Klees each blocked a pair of shots in the win for their team.
Benedictine was paced by 11 points from Tim Swanson. Jacob Carweell had 10 points in the losing efort.
BU's Rob Vaughan tracked down a team-high seven rebounds. He also had eight points for the hosts.
