Trinity IL (Non-D3) 79, Macalester 54

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Mike Keating had 25 points and 14 rebounds and Isaac Rosefelt finished with 20 points and four assists as first-place St. Thomas defeated the Scots 87-55 in the final men's basketball game in the 83-year-old history of the Macalester Gymnasium.

St. Thomas – the No. 6-ranked team in the D3Hoops.com poll, improves to 17-2 on the season and 13-1 in the MIAC. Macalester falls to 7-11 on the season, 4-9 in MIAC play.

Bryan Schnettler added 15 points and five assists for the Tommies, who shot 57% while holding Mac to a 35% figure on the day. UST out-scored Macalester 56-28 in points in the paint.

Tom Conboy netted 21 points, while Brad Liddell and Andy Stein added 11 apiece to pace Macalester. The Scots were just 6-for-31 on three-pointers for a 19% mark.

St. Thomas scored the game’s first 13 points before Mac got on the board 5:07 into the contest. Leading 34-25 with 2:35 left in the half, UST out-scored the hosts 12-3 over the remainder of the period to go up 46-28 at the intermission. UST’s lead in the second half was never in danger.

Macalester returns to action Wednesday (Jan. 13) at Concordia-Moorhead. The Tommies play Wednesday at home against Carleton.
