Buffalo, NY — Lady Mavs Roll into NCAA Tournament

The Medaille College women's basketball team used suffocating defense and dominance on the glass to advance to their second straight NCAA Tournament with a convincing (66-39) win over Penn State-Behrend in the AMCC Championship. The Lady Mavs picked a great day to play their best game of the season and they did so with a balanced attack. It would be junior, guard, Marisa Clark (Hilton, NY/Hilton), who paced Medaille as she played a spectacular game netting a game high (18) points while pulling down (10) boards, dishing out (4) assists and coming up with (5) steals and a block on the defensive end. The Lady Mavs had three players reach double digits in scoring and rebounding. The story of this game was defense as Medaille held Behrend to (12) first half points as they headed into the break with a (32-12) advantage. The second half would see much of the same as the Lions were unable to put together any significant runs. The Lions were led in the loss by senior, Brittany Mays (Knox, PA/Keystone), who led her team in both scoring and rebounding with (16) points and (11) boards. For Medaille the win was the (14th) straight and it marks their second straight AMCC regular season and tournament titles. In the 2005-2006 season Medaille advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament beforing falling to the University of Rochester. The Lady Mavs are now (23-4) while Penn State-Behrend falls to (21-5). The Lady Mavs will learn their tournament fate on Monday morning (2/26) as the selection process takes place tomorrow (2/25).
