R-MC (11-8 / 6-6 ODAC)also got 12 points from Phil Hawley who put in five of his six shots on the night and led all players with nine rebounds. Justin Short tallied 16 points in the win while dishing out a game-high four assists. The Yellow Jackets shot 48.9% (22-of-45) from the floor in the victory.
Lynchburg (6-14 / 3-10 ODAC) had four players in double digits led by Steven Echols with 15. Drew Norris scored 13 points, while Kwame Safo and Evan Fancourt each had 10 points in a losing effort. The Hornets shot 36.2% (21-of-58) from the floor.
The Yellow Jackets came out of the blocks strong, opening up a 15-4 edge when Stephen Sutherland scored with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half. A Loren Sisson three-pointer made the score 34-18 with 2:30 left in the opening period.
After a Sean Sutherland basket cut the R-MC lead to 34-20 with under a minute left in the opening half, Short connected on a half-court buzzer beater to give the Jackets a 37-20 lead at the break.
In the second-half, LC was able to hold R-MC to just six made field goals but R-MC made 21 of its attempts at the charity stripe to hold off the Hornets who scored 46 points in the second stanza.
Randolph-Macon will return to action on Saturday when it will hit the road to take on ODAC foe Washington & Lee University in a 2:00 p.m. tip-off. Lynchburg will be in action next at Guilford College at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
