Head Coach Andy Hamilton's squad fell behind 15-8 early in the game, but rallied to tie the contest at 22-22 with 6:35 remaining in the first half. Peter, Maddy Raimondo, and a host of other players then went on a 20-8 run for a 42-30 halftime advantage.
In the second half, The Pioneers outscored the Rams 46-33 as every player on the Grinnell roster scored in the victory. The Pioneers caused 36 turnovers, while only committing 13 turnovers of their own. Peter went 7 of 13 from the field, including 3 of 7 from behind the three-point line.
Junior Katy Bowen had 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Raimondo finished with nine points and four rebounds, while sophomore forward Caitlin Shannon tallied eight points. First-year guard Laura Burton added eight points and three rebounds, while first-year guard Hannah Wolf chipped in with nine points.
"Our individual efforts provided a collective, aggressive performance which aided in the victory" Hamilton said. "Our challenge is to now repeat that effort on Saturday at Central."
