Burditt scored seven points in the opening minutes to help stake Benedictine (3-6) to a 14-7 lead. MSOE (5-7) reeled off the next eight points, capped by a pair of Catherine Chappell baskets, to take its first lead of the night at 15-14.
Benedictine led by as many as five points on a pair of occasions, but the hosts led 32-28 before Megan Walczak hit a jumper and Misty Nguyen buried a 3-pointer to put the visiting Eagles back on top, 33-32. Benedictine's Lauren Zuro hit a lay-up at the buzzer to send the two teams to the locker room knotted at 37-37.
Benedictine raced out of the break by scoring the first 13 points of the second half. Burditt netted the first four points, while Tamika Curtis had six points in the run. MSOE cut the lead to seven points on a pair of occasions, the latter being at 60-53 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game.
Neither team scored for the next three-plus minutes before Burditt's 3-pointer started a 10-3 run that put Benedictine back up by 14 at 70-56. The Eagles never led by fewer than 12 the rest of the way.
Burditt made 9-of-14 shots from the field on her way to her career-high 22 points. She also added team highs of five assists and four steals. Curtis posted her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 boards, while Jennison Cox had her best game of the season with 14 points, which included four 3-pointers. Eleven players found the scoring column for Benedictine, whose bench outscored MSOE's by a 16-5 count.
Benedictine made 18-of-36 shots from the floor after halftime and held a 44-35 advantage on the glass.
Chappelle and Cortney Femling had 23 and 21 points, respectively, for MSOE in the loss.
Benedictine returns to play on Wednesday, Dec. 29, when it hosts North Park University.
