Junior guard Greg Cole (Terrytown, NY) led WestConn with 16 points. He also had seven rebounds for the winners.
Jeff Gene (Bridgeport, CT) and Jay Reginatto (Torrington, CT) added 15 points each. Gene had seven rebounds and three steals. Reginatto had four boards and two steals.
Brice Assie (Bridgeport, CT) added 12 points, including two thunderous dunks in the second half.
WestConn, which led by 23 at intermission, 44-21, pulled from the Bearcats after they cut their deficit to 21 points one minute into the second stanza. One of Assie’s dunks capped off a 16-5 run by the Colonials and game them a 63-31 advantage with 13:55 left in the contest.
Baruch was led by Louie Karis (Brooklyn, NY) who had 16 points. Cheick Fadika (Abigjan, Ivory Coast) added nine points and, along with Sime Marnika (Zadar, Croatia) pulled down 11 rebounds for the Bearcats, now 8-3.
The Colonials, 7-1 overall played all 16 players for the second game in a row after not playing a game since Dec. 11.
They travel to Hunter next Tuesday in a non-league affair at 4 p.m.
In the consolation game, Fitchburg State College squandered a 20-point first half lead and dropped an 80-72 decision to Wentworth Institute of Technology (3-7).
Sherrad Prezzie-Blue (Norwalk, CT) led all scorers with 28 points for the Leopards.
Jim Prignano (West Hartford, CT) had 18 points for the Falcons, now 1-9 on the season.
