A 42-22 run in the second stanza coupled with a 40-16 rebounding edge guided Wartburg College past Cornell 78-55 Friday, Feb. 6, at Mount Vernon.
The Knights (12-7 overall, 7-4 Iowa Conference) opened a 10-0 lead less than five minutes in. The Rams (2-18 overall, 1-11 IIAC) overcame the slow start and held a 37-36 advantage early in the second half before Wartburg went on an 11-1 run and never trailed again.
Senior forward Jessica Mennen of Dumont record a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead four Knights in double figures. Fellow senior forward Kelly Foley of Tipton added 16 and dished out four assists.
Junior guard Danielle Tancredi dropped in 16 to lead the home team. Junior forward Erika Pepmeyer added 11.
