Jessenia Marrero and Alexandra Stamatiades (10 rebounds) each scored 15 points in the quarterfinal win, while Diane Ramirez added 11 points and five rebounds.
The turning point of the game came with 4:15 remaining when Marrero hit her third three-pointer for a 50-43 lead.
The basket was significant since Marrero had just previously missed a jumper and Christine Klusko kept possession alive with an offensive rebound.
Klusko missed her follow up lay up but grabbed the offensive rebound for the second consecutive time for another second-chance possession that allowed Marrero to hit the big shot for the crucial seven-point lead.
Klusko, who grabbed five rebounds in the final five minutes, finished the game with nine total rebounds.
Daina-Marie Henry was an important spark off the bench scoring six points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Back up point guard D.J. Liu also came off the bench early in the first half to hit an important three-pointer at 12:40 to help stifle a run by City to cut their lead to two points (12-10). The three-pointer was Lui's second of the season and her first since the season opening game against New Rochelle (11/22/03).
Clarice Bell led the CCNY Beavers (11-14) with 11 points.
