Chapman (12-3) looked uninspired in a first half that saw it shoot 33 percent from the field and trail much of the first half to the Regals. But the Panthers stormed out of the locker room after the break to outscore Cal Lutheran 25-6 in the first ten minutes of the second half and build a 20-point lead. In contrast, Chapman shot 58.3 percent from the field after halftime. Senior guard Mel Bongiorno, who last game eclipsed the 1,500 career point mark, led all scorers with 23 points. Bongiorno is just 84 points shy of Chapman’s all-time scoring mark, set by Leone Patterson in 1986. Freshman center Sarah Brands, earned career-highs in points (10) and rebounds (11) for her first career double-double.
Katy Svennungsen earned a double-double for Cal Lutheran (3-7) with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Three Regals scored in double-digits in the loss.
