NEW LONDON, N.H. — Colby-Sawyer opened the second half with an 11-0 run over the first 8:30 and held on for a 55-46 win over Amherst in the championship game of the Colby-Sawyer Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon in the Coffin Field House. The Chargers move to 2-0 on the year, while Amherst falls to 1-1.

Tournament MVP K.J. Krasco (Medford, Mass.) led the way for the Chargers, scoring 14 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Kristen Sorensen (Coventry, Conn.) added 11 points and Amy Beaton (Haverhill, Mass.) had 10 for Colby-Sawyer. Stacey Hildreth (Winchester, N.H.) added six points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, nine coming in the first half when she played just five minutes.

Colby-Sawyer also played much of the second half without all-tournament team member Jaime Peterman (Nottingham, N.H.), who left with an injury at the 17:53 mark of the half with an injury and did not return.

Amherst was led by Shaina Pollack (Great Neck, N.Y.) with 12 points, and Jenny Muller (Andover, Mass.) and Matia Kostakis (Andover, Mass.) both added 10 points.

Colby-Sawyer returns to play on Tuesday, November 23, when they host Suffolk at the Coffin Field House. Game time is 7 p.m.
