Carleton 66, Hamline 42

Northfield, Minn. — Sarah Kunelius and Sarah Lincoln scored 13 points each and host Carleton College held Hamline University to 25 percent shooting in beating the Pipers, 66-42.

Kunelius drained 3-of-4 three-point tries and added four rebounds and three assists while Lincoln grabbed nine rebounds for the Knights (3-2, 1-1 MIAC).

Laurisa Ewert paced Hamline (1-2, 0-2 MIAC) with 11 points and seven rebounds, although the Pipers’ leading scorer was 4-for-15 from the floor in the loss.

Hannah Oken-Berg added 12 points for Carleton, which shot 46 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Pipers 45-39.

Carleton used a 21-5 run over a 10 minute, 30 second time period on either side of halftime, pushing its lead to 41-22 at the 13:18 mark in beating Hamline for the 16th straight time.

The Knights held the Pipers to only seven field goals in each half, including 2-for-16 from three-point range. The spread could have been larger if not for Carleton’s 14-for-30 performance from the free-throw line.

Carleton returns to action on Monday, Dec. 5, hosting MIAC preseason favorite St. Benedict at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard live on Carleton’s website at www.carleton.athletics/broadcasts. The Pipers host St. Thomas at 6 p.m. as part of a women’s/men’s doubleheader.
