New York University 65, York (N.Y.) 52

— The New York University men's basketball team won its sixth straight game with a 65-52 victory over York College on Sunday, December 4, at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

Junior Jason Boone scored a career-high 24 points on 9-10 (90%) from the floor and tied a career high with four blocks, as the Violets improved to 6-0 on the season. Junior Daniel Falcon grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds, while senior Jared Kildare posted 12 points and five assists. Falcon also added nine points and two blocks in the win.

York (2-4) stayed close to NYU throughout the first half, as the Violets lead was no more than seven points in the opening stanza. A jumper by the Cardinals' Shayne Smith cut NYU's halftime lead to 30-25. The Violets got a little breathing room early in the second half.

NYU used an 18-2 run to jump out to a 48-27 lead with 10:21 remaining. However, York used an 11-0 run to cut into the lead, 48-38, with 7:43 left in the second. The Cardinals did not get any closer, as the Violets jumped back out to an 18-point lead, 61-43, with 3:45 remaining, before settling for a 65-52 win.

Junior Matt Basford supplied nine points, while junior Michael DeCorso added seven points for the Violets. Junior Chael Clark added four points, three assists, three steals, and two rebounds off the bench.

Smith led York with 14 points, while Reyaad Mohamed add 12 in the loss.
