Geneseo State 57, Alfred 51

ALFRED, NY — The Alfred University women’s basketball team lost at home to Geneseo Tuesday evening, 57-51.

Senior forward Meg Coddington (Amherst, NH/Souhegan) turned in a stellar effort for Alfred (3-5, 0-0 Empire), scoring a game-high 21 points on eight-of-11 shooting and grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds.

Senior center Kylene Knoll (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) had eight points and seven blocks for the Lady Saxons, while junior guard Denae Foster (Canaseraga, NY/Arkport) had seven points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.

Sophomore forward Annie Verdino (Yorktown Heights, NY/New Hyde Park) had 10 points and eight rebounds to pace Geneseo (4-2, 2-1 SUNYAC). Senior forward Jessica Chambers (Oneida, NY/Oneida) had seven points and 10 rebounds and sophomore guard Merrissa Wilson (Buffalo, NY/Mt. Mercy Academy) had nine points, six rebounds and two steals.

Alfred plays next on Friday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at home against Potsdam.
