Baruch's (8-1, 3-0 CUNYAC) winning streak now stands at seven games.
The game was tightly contested with each team exchanging leads throughout the evening.
Two free throws by Anwar Baptiste (Bronx, NY/St. Raymond's) gave the Bearcats a 56-55 lead with 3:23 left. They increased it to four points on a layup by Karis and a free throw for a 59-55 advantage at 2:29.
CCNY (4-1, 1-1 CUNYAC) fought back to cut the lead to one on a Andre Womack-Clarke (Brooklyn, NY/FIT) layup for a 59-58 score at 1:05.
Both teams tried to score in the final minute with a flurry of shots, but only a pair of free throws by Karis with two seconds left provided the final 61-58 scoreline.
Robi Davidson (Beverly Hills/Tel Aviv, Israel) led four players in double-digits with 15 points, while Karis finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Cheick Fadika (Abidjan, Ivory Coast/Petit) and Baptiste had 10 points each.
Steve Souma led CCNY (FIT/Bronx, NY) with 20 points and six rebounds. The Beavers struggled all evening from three-point range (2-14).
Baruch will return to action this Saturday with a non-conference home game against Polytechnic. Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for Noon.
