The Tigers improved to 6-3 and will take a two-game winning streak into the holiday break. Despite losing independent player of the year Tarn Udall during the preseason, CC’s six victories are its most in the first half of the season since winning nine in 2001 and its best winning percentage since 1989.
Melanie August paced the Tigers with a team-high 21 points, the eighth time she has reached double-figures and the fifth time this season she had led CC in scoring. The freshman point guard also had seven assists and seven rebounds.
Sophomore forward Paige Whitney also reached double figures for the fifth consecutive game, finishing with 18 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Junior guard Megan MaCallister had a season-high 12 points, while sophomore guard Liz Kolbe added 11.
The Wildcats got a game-high 32 points from freshman guard Rosalyn Wilson, but no one else was able to reach double figures.
CC took a 52-35 lead into the break after leading by as many as 19 points in the first half. The Tigers went on a 26-6 run to open the second half and led by 37 points with 9:28 to play.
Colorado College will be idle until Jan. 2 when the Tigers play at Cal Tech in the first of four games over a six-day span in Southern California.
