The Rams (2-6, 1-1 GNAC) led 43-32 at half-time before the Golden Bears used a 12-2 run to take a 65-59 lead on a jumper by freshman guard Matt Maynard (Paterson, NJ) with 7:35 remaining in the game.
Western New England College appeared to have the game in control by taking a 73-64 advantage following a three-pointer by sophomore guard Ryan Hernandez (Hampton Bays, NY) at the 3:30 mark.
Suffolk rallied using a 15-1 run of its own to end the game. The Rams went ahead for good when Murphy drilled a three-pointer for a 76-74 lead with 29.7 seconds left in the contest.
Suffolk received a double double from senior center Josh Morelock (Poplar Grove, IL) who had 16 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures were freshman forward Brian Small (Stoughton, MA) (14) and sophomore guard Chris MacDonald (Brewster, MA) (10 off the bench).
Hernandez led four Western New England College in double figures with 18 points off the bench. Senior guard Jon Godbut (Bristol, CT) contributed 17 while Maynard and junior forward Peter Stathakis (North Attleboro, MA) each had 11 points. Stathakis also pulled down a team high eight rebounds.
The Golden Bears end the semester with a 2-6 record and 0-1 GNAC mark.
