Nathalie Lechault, a 6-4 forward from Switzerland, led the Pointers with 16 points and six blocks, while Cassandra Schultz (Hartford, WI/Hartford) added 12 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
The game throughout was in reach for Baruch (6-4), but key shooting down the stretch and quick responses to runs allowed the Pointers to hold on for the non-conference win.
Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, IL/Rich Central) led the Bearcats with 16 points in 37 minutes of action. Racquel Reid (Bronx, NY/Washington Irving) had another strong tournament game with 13 points and three steals.
The Baruch defense forced 31 turnovers and outscored their taller opponents by a 28-20 margin in the paint. However, they struggled from the perimeter shooting 24-of-73 the entire game, including attempting 22 more shots total than the Pointers.
Baruch will next play on Friday, January 6, with a conference home game against Lehman. Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
