STORM LAKE, Iowa — Katie Maguire became the 12th player in BVU school history to record 1,000 career points as the Beavers defeated the Dutch of Central College 100-78 in Siebens Fieldhouse on Saturday night. The Beavers improved to 11-0 in the Iowa Conference and 18-1 overall. The Dutch fell to 4-9 in conference play and 7-14 on the season. IIAC Central Dutch

The Beavers used a combination of good shooting and strong defense to jump out early as BVU shot 65.0% from the field in the first half to claim a 62-33 advantage at the break. It was much of the same in the second half as the Beavers never faulted and Central never got within 20 points of BVU. In addition, the Beaver defense forced the Dutch to 26 turnovers on the game.
BVU was once again paced by Katie Maguire as she dropped in 20 points and recorded seven assists in the victory. Four other Beavers reached double figures as Kristina Kapler and Jess Griggs each tallied 15 points, while Megan Holtorf and Tracy Hartwig scored 13 and 12 points respectively.
The win was the 32nd straight home victory for Buena Vista. The 15th ranked Beavers have now won 17 consecutive games.
The Dutch were led by Ashley Nekola who scored 22 points and grabbed eight boards for Central. Maria Weiler also added 16 points in the loss.
