Concordia-Moorhead 65, Carleton 52

Northfield, Minn. — Beth Freeman scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Megan Vig tallied 16 points and eight rebounds but No. 17 Carleton had its 15-game winning streak ended by Concordia, 65-52.

Mandy Pearson and Anne Keeley scored 14 points each and Pearson for the Cobbers (14-4, 12-3 MIAC), who ended a 10-game losing streak to the Knights and won for the 10th consecutive time.

The Cobbers led essentially the entire way, grabbing the lead at 10-9 and using a 10-0 spurt midway through the first half to lead 35-25 at the break. The visitors extended the margin to as many as 20 before the Knights chipped away, using a 13-4 run to pull within 10, 62-52, with 2:03 left.

The Cobbers held the Knights to 29 percent shooting in the second half and owned a sizable 34-23 spread on points in the paint. The Cobbers helped themselves by canning 5-for-10 three-pointers in the first half. Carleton got to the line with regularity, but went 15-for-26 compared to the Cobbers' 6-of-9 performance.

The loss ends Carleton's 15-game winning streak and their 24-game home winning streak, which dated back to the 2002-03 season. It marked only their fifth home loss over the last five seasons. The Knights still maintain a two-game lead in the MIAC race over St. Benedict and Concordia and need to win two of their final four games to secure at least a share of the MIAC title.
