Buena Vista hit 71 percent (22 of 31) of their first half field goal attempts including 59 percent (10 of 17) from behind the three point line to race out to a 57-28 halftime advantage. It marked the second straight game that the Beavers, the highest scoring team in the nation, held a lead of 29 points at halftime.
Katie Maguire, who was four of six from three point range, led Buena Vista with 16 points and seven rebounds. Kristina Kapler inched closer to the 1,000 point milestone with 15 points. She now needs 11 points to reach the 1,000 point mark.
Loras was led offensively by Blair Bennett who netted 14 points off the bench. The Duhawks shot 42 percent (22 of 53) from the floor and outscored the Beavers 36-34 in the second half.
Kelli Staley and Jess Griggs also reached double figures for Buena Vista with 13 and 11 points respectively. Megan Holtorf scored seven and dished out eight assists as the Beavers won their 33rd straight home game in convincing fashion.
Buena Vista improved to 20-1 with the Iowa Conference victory. The Beavers are undefeated in league play with a conference mark of 12. Loras fell to 10-11, 5-7 in the IIAC.
