Baruch 57, Hunter 51

NEW YORK — The Baruch women's basketball team won their 19th game of the season this evening with a 57-51 home conference win against city rival Hunter College.

The win raises Baruch's record to 19-4 overall and 11-1 in the CUNYAC.

Baruch jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead (31-21) and led by as much as 12 points during the second half.

Hunter put together a strong rally to tie the game at 47 on a 3-point play by Jen Ithier with 2:20 remaining.

Baruch center Racquel Reid, who finished the game with 22 points (10-14 FG) and eight rebounds, hit a jumper on Baruch's next possession for the lead (49-47) they would never relinquish the rest of the way.

Baruch finished the final 1:09 shooting 7-of-8 free throws to nail down the big conference win and avenge an earlier overtime loss this season to Hunter College.

Ally Stamatiades scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Diane Ramirez notched eight points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and seven steals.

Krystin Suarez led Hunter (10-12, 9-3) with 14 points and Christine Vega added eight points.

Baruch will return to action this Friday night when they host Lehman College on Senior Night in the ARC. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
