Notre Dame cut the lead to two on its next possession as junior guard Monica Cherry (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin High School) hit a jumper with 31 second to play.
After Wilson sophomore Jennifer Liggett (Wardorfburg, Pa./Southern Fulton High School) made 1-of-2 free throws to put the Phoenix (6-16, 2-8 AWCC) up by three.
Cherry then scored with 21 second remaining to cut the lead to one. Liggett missed two free throws with 15 seconds left, but Notre Dame (8-13, 5-5 AWCC) could not convert either of its two final shots.
Senior guard Brynn Miscavige (Weatherly, Pa./Marian Catholic High School) scored 13 to lead the Gators, while Cherry added 11.
