Buena Vista was able to overcome poor shooting by earning 32 free throws. The Beavers made 21 of those attempts, including 18 in the second half alone.
Kristina Kapler and Katie Maguire led Buena Vista with 12 points apiece to lead the road squad. Both players were held well below their season averages. Kapler pulled down 15 rebounds, the second-most in a single game in her career. Kelli Staley also reached double figures in rebounds with 10. The Beavers, who extended their winning streak to 12, held an overwhelming 57-38 rebounding edge.
Central, which led 29-28 at halftime, was led by Ashley Nekola who registered a game-high 20 points. Rachel Lenox scored 14 as the Dutch fell to 6-10 overall, 3-5 in conference play.
Both teams struggled shooting the ball. Buena Vista, now 14-1 and 6-0 in the IIAC, shot 18 of 63 (29 percent) while making just four three-point shots on 20 attempts. Central connected on 19 of 61 shots (31 percent).
Buena Vista returns to action on Tuesday by traveling to Loras. Tip-off in Dubuque is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
