Purchase, NY — Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, IL/Rich Central) scored 24 points and Racquel Reid (Bronx, NY/Washington Irving ) notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, as Baruch won the 28th Annual Castle Classic Tournament by defeating the Valiants of Manhattanville, 63-52.

Baruch (14-3) trailed throughout portions of the first half, but entered the intermission on a strong note with an 8-0 run for a tie at 34.

They opened the second half with a 14-3 run to lead 48-37 with 14:54 left in the game.

Manhattanville (7-8) tried to cut the deficit on several occasions with runs, but Baruch held on for the tournament championship and solid non-conference win.

Diane Ramirez (Sunnyside, NY/Francis Lewis) was named to the All-Tournament Team with two-day tournament totals of 23 points and nine assists. Paradise was named the MVP with 52 total points.

Manhattanville senior Beth Hickey (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) led the Valiants against Baruch with 19 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Baruch will return to action on Saturday with a conference home game against Brooklyn College. Tip off in the ARC is scheduled for Noon.
