Buena Vista 103, Cornell 55

STORM LAKE, Iowa — Randy Bissen dropped in 22 points as the Buena Vista University men’s basketball team improved its record to 7-2 in the Iowa Conference and 15-3 overall after they handled Cornell College 103-55 on Saturday night. Cornell dropped to 2-7 in the Iowa Conference and 5-13 on the season.

Ninth-ranked BVU controlled the game from the opening tip as they were the first to strike and never gave up the lead. The Beavers took advantage of their scoring opportunities, shooting 56.7% from the field. In addition, the Beavers capitalized from the free throw line as they went 25-28, shooting 89.3% to the Rams 6-14. The Beavers once again dominated on the boards, out rebounding Cornell 45-18.

In addition to Bissen’s 22 points, three other BVU starters contributed double figures to the win. Michael Cameron and Jordan Campbell scored 15 and 14 points respectively, while Eric Wiebers added 11 points and 8 assists to the Beavers' campaign.

Mike Halac and Jeff Ecker combined for 33 of the Rams 55 points as Halac scored 19 points and Ecker added 14 in the loss.
