PELLA, Iowa — Wartburg College dominated the boards and sprinted to an 81-59 Iowa Conference women’s basketball victory over Central College Saturday.

The Knights outrebounded the Dutch, 56-36, and had 20 offensive rebounds. Leading 22-17 with 6:57 left in the first half, Wartburg went on a 10-0 run in a two-minute span and led 43-21 at intermission.

Wartburg (11-7 overall, 6-4 conference) got 19 points and 14 rebounds from Amanda Berner. The Knights shot 41.5 percent from the floor to Central’s 31.3 percent.

Central (7-12 overall, 4-7 conference), still playing without its top two centers, had played within 75-70 at Wartburg Jan. 14.

Dutch forward Ashley Nekola had 14 points and six rebounds while guard Aimee Schmidt had eight points and a career-best 11 boards.

The Dutch travel to Indianola to take on Simpson College in Iowa Conference action Wednesday at 6 p.m.
