Petrich went 9 of 16 from the field and scored six of the Pipers' last 10 points. Trailing 70-69, Petrich hit a 18-foot jumper to give the Pipers (6-11, 4-10 in the MIAC) the lead. She also hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to ice the win.
Junior forward Laurisa Ewert added 21 points on 8 of 20 shooting. She also grabbed 11 rebounds for her second double-double in as many games and fourth of the season.
Sophomore Kelly Lines chipped in eight points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Andrea Eilertson had eight points.
Wildcat guard Kate Bremmer led all scorers with 23 points, shooting 10 of 23 from the field. She led four Wildcats in double figures. Shelly Soule had 17 points while Sarah Schnieder added 12. Guard Rachel Berglund netted 10 points.
The Pipers led 40-39 at the break after holding a 14-5 advantage five minutes into the contest. Petrich scored four points during the run, but the Wildcats answered with an 11-0 run to take their first lead of the game.
Neither team led by more than five points the rest of the game. The score was tied 10 times in the game - six times in the second half.
Hamline shot 39 percent for the game (25-64) compared to 36 percent by St. Catherine (26-73). However, Hamline made 22 free throws - six more than the Wildcats attempted.
The Pipers also outrebounded St. Catherine 51-39 in the game.
