Catholic 70, Baruch 67

Washington, DC — Lindsay DiRomualdo (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) scored 27 points, including a three-pointer with 22 seconds left in overtime, to lift the Cardinals past Baruch, 70-67, and claim the CUA Tip-Off Tournament Championship.

CUA (2-0) battled Baruch closely throughout the game as both teams shot the ball well. The Cardinals shot 43 percent in the first half, while the Bearcats shot 44 percent .

DiRomualdo had nine points in the first half, while Maria Rojas (Providence, R.I./LaSalle) added six.

Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, IL/Rich Central) and Ally Stamatiades (Astoria, NY/W.C. Bryant) scored 11 in the first half to lead the Bearcats.

CUA (2-0) led 30-25 with less than three minutes in the first half before the Bearcats went on a 7-0 run to lead at halftime, 32-30.

In the second half, Baruch (1-1) came out firing as Paradise hit a jumper and Jessenia Marrero (Flushing, NY/Francis Lewis) nailed a three-pointer to give the Bearcats the lead at 37-32.

With more than 10 minutes to play, the Cardinals rallied. DiRomualdo hit her second of four treys and Kristen Clancy's (Exton, PA./Downingtown East) layup tied the game at 46-46.

The Cardinals took the lead with under eight minutes to play when Clancy stole the ball and found Kristen Linderoth (Spring Lake, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) on a fast break for a two-point advantage at 48-46.

In the final minute, Marrero hit a three pointer to cut the CUA lead to 58-57.

Racquel Reid (Bronx, NY/Washington Irving) then made one of two free throws to send the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, CUA and Baruch battled even. After Clancy scored to give CUA a 64-62 lead, Paradise scored her last basket to tie the game at 64. Paradise finished with 26 points.

After DiRomualdo hit her three-pointer, Rojas then made one of two free throws to give CUA a three point lead at 68-65. Diane Ramirez (Sunnyside, NY/Francis Lewis) made two free throws to get the Bearcats to within one point, but Rojas iced the game with two free throws for the Cardinals.

DiRomualdo was named the Tournament's MVP and Linderoth, Paradise and Ally Stamatiades were named to the All-Tournament team.
