Bethel 73, Minnesota-Morris 67

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Bethel Royal Women’s Basketball team came away with a win in physical fashion tonight against the Cougars from Minnesota-Morris and now move to 2-0 on the season. Bethel started out slow shooting only 27.6% from the field and trailed by two at the half but exploded in the second half with 47 points to claim the victory. The Royals’ Jen Ahlberg scored her 1000th career point as a Royal, and finished the game with 13 points and 3 assists. Also coming up big for the Royals was JoLynn Thielke, who was 4 of 6 from behind the ark and finished with 19 points and eight rebounds. Annegret Nautsch gave the Royals a huge advantage in bench scoring as she ended the game with a double double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. The leading scorers for Morris were Jamie Rainey, Tynell Kocer, and Nikita Warren, who all finished with 11 points respectively and combined for 13 rebounds. Malinda Berglund also put in a nice effort of 10 points and five rebounds. University of Minnesota Morris now moves to 1-2 on the year. Bethel Women’s Basketball hosts Valley City State on November 23rd, at 7:00 p.m. in the Robertson Center.
