Bethel 72, Valley City State 62

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. — The Bethel women’s basketball team came away with their third win of the season tonight and remained unbeaten as they defeated Valley City State University 72-62. The Royals held a 13 point advantage at the half after shooting 69.6% from the field and never looked back. For Bethel, JoLynn Thielke led all scorers with 21 points and added a game high eight rebounds to go with her four assists on the night. Other top performers for the Royals included Jen Ahlberg, Sarah Cotner, and Heather Davis who finished with 18, 9, and 13 points respectively. Annegret Nautsch again made her presence felt off the bench as she grabbed five rebounds, four of which came in the last 3:35 of the game to help seal the win for Bethel.

For the Vikings of Valley City State, Janae Larson and Loni Hall led with 13 and 12 points as Hall also notched five rebounds. Other top performers included Molly Schultz who finished with nine points and Mallory Undlin who put up a nice stat line of nine points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

The Royals collectively shot 53.3 % from 3-point range as well as 70 % from the free throw stripe.

Bethel goes 3-0 on the year and travels to St. Catherine for their MIAC opener on December 3rd while Valley City State falls to 5-2 and will travel to take on UM-Crookston this weekend.
