Hungry for a victory and determined to bring one back from the Asheville mountains, the Spirits of Salem College traveled to Warren Wilson College Monday night. Despite a slow start, Salem College (2-14) grabbed a 22-15 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half with a 51-29 win over the Owls (0-16).
Senior Megan Ratley continued to lead the Spirits with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Ashley Jones poured in an additional 15 points while Danielle Dodson had a stellar night with 9 points and a team-leading 12 rebounds. Billy Harmon was held scoreless but came up with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Nahamah “Stretch” Jackson scored 7 points to go along with her 9 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocked shots. Angela Daly scored her first 2 points as a NCAA athlete and played aggressive defense to help secure the win for the Salem Spirits.
For Warren Wilson College, Yael Girard led the Owls with 14 points. Salem’s next game is at home on Saturday vs. Allen University.
