That brought Central’s modest two-game win streak to a halt as the Dutch (4-17 overall, 4-10 conference) struggled against Luther’s full-court pressure, committing 23 turnovers, including 16 in the first half as the Norse (16-4 overall, 9-3 conference) jumped to a 60-31 bulge.
Luther guard Danielle Dunnwald was 8-for-8 from the floor and led all scorers with 21 points while passing out five assists.
Central center Ashley Nekola had 18 points while guard Morgan Martin had 10 points. Freshman guard Emily Conway had eight assists for the Dutch, who shot 48.3 percent from the floor but were outrebounded 38-23.
Central remains in contention for the sixth and final conference tournament berth with two regular-season games left. The Dutch travel to the University of Dubuque for a women’s-men’s doubleheader Friday starting at 6 p.m. Central was a 76-59 winner over the Spartans at Pella Jan. 4. The Dutch then closes their home slate with a twinbill against Coe College Saturday, tipping off at 4 p.m. at Kuyper Gym.
