Freshman forward Jessica Katch added 12 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals for the Tommies, who won for the first time since Jan. 25. UST closed the season in a three-way tie for seventh place in the conference.
For the Wildcats, junior guard Erin Petrich had 19 points, sophomore guard Rachel Berglund had 13 points and eight rebounds, and senior center Jenna Martin had eight points and nine rebounds.
Senior Erica Opdahl had 14 points and six rebounds and finished her career with 1,262 points, 684 rebounds and 92 blocked shots in 102 games. Junior guard Melissa Keiser had eight points and finished the season with 56 3-point baskets.
After the game was tied 37-37 with 11:00 left, the Toms used a 12-3 run to take the lead for good at 49-40, and the Wildcats never were closer than five points thereafter.
Freshman Anna Swanson knocked down a 3-pointer with 2:49 to go to give UST a 60-51 lead. Wirtz made both ends of a 1-and-1 free-throw situation with 52 seconds to go to put UST ahead 62-54.
