North Park 62, Augustana 58ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana committed 30 turnovers and it proved to be a costly statistic as the Vikings dropped the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin opener to North Park by a score of 62-58 at the Carver PE Center on Tuesday, January 3. Megan Slattery scored 14 points and grabbed a game high 11 rebounds to lead the visitors to victory. Evie Peterson and Shandrel Young joined Slattery in double figures for North Park with 12 points apiece. Augustana got 18 points out of Maegan Skahill. Skahill was seven of 12 from the floor, including two of three from three point range and she was perfect on two free throw attempts. She pulled down six rebounds, had three assists, one blocked shot and one steal but it was not enough. Augustana led by as many as eight points (17-9 at 12:07) early in the game but North Park took a 30-28 lead into the lockerroom at halftime. In the second half the visitors never trailed and led by as much as eight points on two separate occasions. Kelly Sikora added 15 points and six rebounds for Augustana as the Vikings outrebounded North Park 40-28. Kim Rymer had six assists and Becky Rehn chipped in with five. Augustana is now 6-6 on the season and 0-1 in the CCIW while North Park is also 6-6 overall and 1-0 in league play.
