The Beavers connected on 23 of 26 free throw opportunities and out-rebounded the Duhawks 38-25 to bounce back from Wednesday night's loss to Cornell College. It was Buena Vista's first true road win of the season.
Buena Vista led 33-29 at halftime and was able to pull away from Loras despite making only eight field goals in the second half. The Beavers made 20 of 22 (91%) second half free throw shots to distance themselves from the Duhawks.
Maguire had eight assists to go along with her 18 points while Staley pulled down eight rebounds. Jess Griggs pieced together a solid performance with 13 points and eight rebounds. Melissa Putney and Tracy Hartwig contributed six and five points respectively as the Beavers' starting five accounted for 60 of the team's 69 points.
Loras was led by Natalie Pucci who registered 17 points and six rebounds, both team highs. Sarah Wilson and Jackie Sears each scored 13 points for the Duhawks, who used only seven players the entire game.
Buena Vista will return home on Tuesday, January 10 by hosting 23rd-ranked Luther College. Tip off at Siebens Fieldhouse is scheduled for 6 p.m.
