Rutgers-Newark 70, New York City Tech 36

NEWARK, NJ — Sophomore guard Eni Fageyinbo (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsippany Hills HS) had 15 points and sophomore forward Toni Roselli (Garfield, NJ/St. Mary’s) added 15 as Rutgers-Newark shut down New York City College of Technology, 70-36, in a non-conference women’s basketball game in The Golden Dome.

Sophomore reserve guard Sabrina Sanchez (Keasby, NJ/Woodbridge) netted eight of her 10 points in the first half when the Scarlet Raiders (8-4) limited the visiting Yellow Jackets (3-9) to just two field goals while forcing 19 turnovers on their way to a 31-12 lead. Reserve forward Stephanie Ross (Nutley, NJ/Nutley) finished with a career-high 13 points and 10 points.

Sophomore guard Amanda Zieminski (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) scored 14 of her game-high 20 points in the second half for City Tech. Sophomore center Evelyn Ravenel (Brooklyn, NY/John Dewey).

Seven different players scored as the Raiders forged an 18-1 lead during the first nine minutes of the contest. The Yellow Jackets could get no closer than 13 points before Rutgers-Newark began to methodically build the lead to the final 34 points. All nine Raiders who played scored in the contest.
