Jen Ahlberg scored a team-high 13 points, including five of her team's 10 points in overtime for the Royals (8-3 overall, 4-3 MIAC). Bridget Weber scored six of her eight points in the final 5:30 of regulation to lead the 10-2 run.
Bethel never led in the second half but used Emily Upzen's basket with 33 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 55-55.
The Toms missed the front end of a 1-and-1 free throw to give the Royals a chance, but Bethel missed a game-winning shot to force overtime. Ahlberg made two quick layups in the 5:00 overtime and the Toms were never closer than two thereafter.
Senior Erica Opdahl had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Tommies (6-5, 4-3), who played their second full game without junior starter Melissa Gotchnik, who's lost for the season with an injury. Jessica Katch added 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Sarah Kotner had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Royals.
Both teams are tie for fourth in the conference at 4-3, one-half game ahead of St. Catherine, which surprised defending champ Carleton at home Wednesday, 63-60.
The Tommies return home Saturday to host St. Mary's (1 p.m.).
