Aurora controlled most of the contest, taking the lead with 11 minutes to play in the first half and never looked back. The Spartans took a 37-29 lead into intermission.
Spartan freshman guard Meagan Re led AU with 17 points on six of eight shooting from the field, four of five from three-point range and eight rebounds off the bench.
Re sparked a Spartan offense that led by as many as 21 points in the second half. She was joined by Lexi Pioli's 14 points and four assists, Laura Wiesner had 10 points and five rebounds and Beth Plucinski had nine points, six rebounds and six assists.
Eureka was led by Brittany Gardner's 19 points off the bench on five of eight shooting from beyond the arc. Nicole Fisher had 16 points and Mandi Sistek had nine points and 10 rebounds.
AU improves their record to 7-10 overall and 1-1 in the NIIC, while Eureka falls to 10-5 overall and 1-2 in the NIIC.
The Spartan women are in action next on Saturday, January 21, 2006, when they host Concordia University, IL in an NIIC showdown. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Thornton Gymnasium.
