The Knights (8-7, 6-4 MIAC) shot 50 percent from the field in winning for the third straight time and for the 16th straight time over the Royals (9-5, 5-5 MIAC). The win kept the Knights in fourth place with half the MIAC slate completed despite suffering through an earlier three-game MIAC losing streak.
JoLynn Thielke paced Bethel with 15 points and five rebounds and Heather Davis added 14 points, six rebounds and four steals. The Royals shot 39 percent from the floor, including 4-of-19 (21 percent) from three-point range and 4-of-14 from the free-throw line.
The Knights started fast, grabbing a 12-2 lead and extended it to 21-4 as Bethel missed nine of its first 10 shots in the first 11 minutes and committed four turnovers.
The Royals opened the second half on a 20-10 run, cutting Carleton’s advantage to 45-38 on a Sarah Cotner lay-up. Biewen scored on consecutive baskets to stem the tide and finished the game on a 14-6 spurt.
