Concordia-Moorhead 63, Hamline 56

ST. PAUL, MINN. — Cobber Melanie Hageman scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Concordia defeated Hamline 63-56 Wednesday night at Hutton Arena.

The Pipers (7-7, 4-6 in the MIAC) came into the game winning three of their last four, but the Cobbers (10-4, 8-2) were able to force Hamline into 22 turnovers.

Junior Kelly Lines led the way for Hamline with 17 points on 5 of 9 shooting, 4 of 6 from beyond the arc. Allison Bratsch added seven points. Leading scorer Laurisa Ewert was held to five points on 2 of 8 from the field.

Hamline grabbed a three-point lead on Lines' last three-pointer of the evening with 4:14 left in the contest, but the Cobbers went on a quick 6-0 run to take the lead for good. Ann Keeley three with 2:31 left gave the Cobbers a 55-52 lead.

Hamline cut the lead to one, but the Cobbers hit 8 of 8 free throws down the stretch to earn the win.

Hamline shot 46 percent in the first half (11-24), but still trailed 32-31 at the break. The Cobbers went 15 of 34 from the field in the half to claim the lead.

Ann Keeley added eight points for the Cobbers while Sarah Krabbenhoft and Ashley King each had seven.
