ST. PAUL, Minn. — Macalester returned to action for the first time in eight days and came out on the short end of a a 84-38 score Saturday afternoon at Bethel. The Royals improve to 10-5 and the Scots go to 2-13.

Bethel led by two points at 15-13 midway through the first half and out-scored the Scots 22-10 over the final 8:28 of the period to go up 37-23 at the break. The Royals shot 55% in the second half, including 6-for-9 from three-point territory, and out-scored their guests 47-15 in the period.

Macalester received 12 points from Elise Pagel, while Adrienne Keller and Brittany Lewis added eight points apiece. Diedre Jackson led all rebounders with eight boards, while Keller pulled down seven.

JoLynn Thielke went 4-for-5 on three-pointers and finished 18 points and three assists to pace the Royals. Sarah Cotner scored 14 points and Blaire Baldwin scored 13.

The Scots return to action Wednesday (Jan. 25) at St. Thomas at 5:45 p.m. Bethel plays Wednesday at home against St. Catherine.
