Simpson 100, Central 48

Indianola, IA — Simpson (14-3, 8-0 IIAC) scored 100 points for the 20th time in school history as the Storm defeated Central (1-14, 1-7 IIAC) 100-48 Jan. 21 in Indianola. The Storm allowed just seven points in the first half, breaking the school record for fewest points allowed in a half. The old mark was 10 which occured two times, most recently Dec. 1, 2005 against Macalester. The Storm allowed only three Dutch field goals in the opening frame and led 46-7 heading into the break.

After missing all seven of their three-point attempts in the first half, the Dutch made 9-of-19 three-point attempts in the second half and were only outscored by the Storm 54-41 in the second half. No Simpson player played more than 19 mintues and each of the 15 Storm players scored. Simpson had a season high 30 assists, and a season low nine turnovers.

The Storm forced 23 Central turnovers and made 13 steals. Heather Kay led Simpson with 13 points and six rebounds. Katelyn Whiton scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds, and had four steals. Tessa Van Oosbree scored 10 points, posted five rebounds, and had four assists.

Laura Porter led Central with 14 points and seven assists. She also turned the ball over 10 times. Emily De Jong had a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Storm scored 100 points for the first time since Dec. 28, 2004 when Simpson won 104-96 over California Lutheran.
