Carroll jumped out to a 32-19 halftime lead while limiting Grinnell to just five first-half field goals on 5-of-22 shooting from the field (22.7%). Grinnell fared a little better in the second-half, managing to improve to 39.3% shooting, but Carroll had already inflicted the damage.
Sophomore Crystal Hoewsich recorded a double-double with team-highs in points (17) and rebounds (11). Senior Krista Rode was the only other Lady Pioneer to reach double-figures (11 points) as the offense featured a balanced attack.
Jacobsen was able to use 13 different players in the game, with 10 playing ten or more minutes. All but one player tallied at least two points.
Carroll entered the game at Grinnell in a tie for first place with Lawrence. Word quickly spread around the league that Monmouth shocked the Vikings 66-63, giving Carroll sole possession of first-place with an 8-1 league mark (14-2 overall).
The Lady Pioneers will try to make it nine league wins on Saturday when they travel to Illinois College for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off. Carroll defeated the Lady Blues 56-48 earlier this season.
