St. Catherine's 57, Hamline 47

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hamline was held to 27 percent shooting for the game as St. Catherine defeated the Pipers 57-47 Monday night in St. Paul, Minn.

The Pipers (8-10, 5-9 in the MIAC) went 18 of 66 from the field in the contest. The Wildcats (8-11, 6-8) weren't much better, shooting 32 percent from the field (19-60), but they were able to hit 16 of 22 at the line to earn the win.

Hamline was 3 of 25 from three-point range in the contest.

Hamline was paced by senior guard Carolyn Korchik's 22 points on 9 of 23 shooting from the field. She also added 13 rebounds. Korchik was the only Piper in double figures.

First-year Krystal Tschumperlin added seven points while senior Laurisa Ewert added six points and 11 rebounds.

Jenna Martin scored 14 points for the Wildcats, including 12 of 14 from the free throw line. Rachel Berglund netted 12 points.

The Wildcats took a 31-20 lead into halftime, breaking the game open with a 15-4 run midway through the first half. Berglund led the way with five points during the run.

Hamline would cut the lead to 37-31 with 11:04 left in the game, but the Pipers could get no closer.
