Battling an injured foot for much of the game, Hartwick senior forward Tiffany Hurley, a D3hoops.com preseason All-American, went over 1,000 career rebounds in the Hawks' 52-41 win against Nazareth in Empire 8 play at Binder Gymnasium.

Hurley became just the second player — male or female — to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career at Hartwick. Hurley, who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, now has 1,308 points and 1,006 rebounds. Hartwick Athletic Hall of Famer Sally Gangell (1,921 points, 1,145 rebounds) is the only other athlete to accomplish that feat.

Hurley was 6-for-8 from the field and looked recovered from her injured foot at the start of the game. She had missed much of the last three games with the foot problem. Hurley, however, hurt herself again in the first half and was able to play sparingly in the second half. Hurley was the Empire 8 Player of the Year last year.

Stephanie Clough added 12 points and a game-high seven assists for Hartwick (13-11, 8-6 E8). Sara Lambert was 7-for-9 from the foul line and added 11 points.

Sara Shipley had 14 points for Nazareth (14-10, 9-5 E8). Erin Michaels had seven points and seven rebounds.

Giddens picks up 1,000th rebound to go with 1,500 pts.
READING, Pa. — Senior forward Tanisha Giddens scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, becoming just the second Crusader in school history to score 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, as the Alvernia women's team defeated Cabrini 68-53 on Feb. 6 in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action at the Physical Education Center.

Giddens joins former men's player Lonnie Walker as the only two players to reach the 1,000/1,000 club at Alvernia. She now has 1,538 career points and 1,004 rebounds. She reached the 1,500 milestone with a 28-point performance Jan. 30 against Gwynedd-Mercy.

Joining Giddens in double-figures for the Crusaders were Erin McIntyre with 13, Jen Sawyer with 12 and Jenn Stricker with 11.

Cabrini was led by Erin Crawford with a game-high 23 and Colleen Dorrian with 15.
