Johnson becomes
Bryn Mawr's
first to 1,000

Shooting guard Amy Johnson's layup with 9:11 left in the first half tonight gave Bryn Mawr a 21-19 lead and made her the first Owl to reach 1,000 career points during her junior season. Host Haverford defeated Bryn Mawr this evening, 65-55, at the new Gooding Arena; however, four Owls scored in double figures, highlighted by Johnson's fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds.

After trailing much of the first half, the Fords used a 10-1 run to lead, 36-31, at the intermission. The Owls erased a 44-34 deficit to tie the score at 50-50 and 52-52, but Haverford pulled away, 13-3, over the final 6:52 of the game.

Entering tonight's game, Johnson needed seven points to achieve the 1,000 point milestone. After tonight's affair, she ranks fourth all-time in scoring at Bryn Mawr with 1,006 points. She only trails Julie Zuraw ('90) for third place by 98 points and all-time leading scorer Emily Brondyke ('97) by 282 points.
Sophomore guard Katie Driscoll scored a career-high 16 points on 6-12 shooting, while freshmen Jessica Allen and Katie Kent also reached double-digits in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Johnson, who played all 40 minutes, also passed for a game-high tying four assists and picked up three steals.

Haverford 6-18 (4-13 CC) was led by sophomore center Erica Juliano, who scored 19 points off the bench, and senior forward Katie Crowley, who added 17 points in her final appearance at Gooding Arena.

Bryn Mawr concludes its season at 3-22, 0-18 in the Centennial Conference. Johnson finished the 2005-2006 campaign with a team-high 312 points, good for 12.5 ppg. She also collected a team-best 7.5 rebounds per contest.
